Poland´s Syndrome vs. Funnel Chest

Left picture: In findings like these a Poland´s syndrome has to be considered which is possibly combined not only with an aplasia of the pectoralis muscle, but with a funnel chest as well. In fact, the girl has also a funnel chest which is obvious neither in the addinional close front view at the bottom nor when viewed from some distance in the picture at the top. In contrast to pigeon chest, with every funnel chest one must consider and check for a Poland´s syndrome. Please notice in the picture at the top both arms and hands. Right picture: In contrast to the other female patient with a symmetrical flat funnel this girl has a symmetrical deep funnel chest.

At first sight both of these not yet developed girls seem to have no common pathology. Left picture: This girl´s left arm is somewhat shorter than the right one. Right picture: This female patient has a distinct funnel chest. Left picture: On looking closely at the additional picture at the bottom, not only the left arm is shorter, but the left hand is smaller than the right one, too.
