Marfan´s Syndrome vs. Funnel Chest

Left picture: This female teenager has a Marfan´s syndrome; notice the arachnodactylia. Right picture: This girl has an isolated funnel chest. The asymmetry of the size of the breasts can be attributed to the funnel chest anomaly only at the end of puberty. In Marfan syndrome the only encountered chest deformity is a funnel chest, never a pigeon chest.

Both female teenagers are in the state of full development. In both of them an asymmetry of the breasts is visible concerning the size and the alignment of mammary glands. Left picture: This girl has an asthenic constitution, and other abnormalities are apparent. Right picture: This female patient is strongly-built and exhibits no distinctive features other than the deformity of the chest.
