Constipation (Clinical Presentation as before)

Plain abdominal x-ray in an infant after the operation of minimal spinal dysraphism. Within the colon fine spotted opacities are visible with minimal air and air-fluid levels. The diagnosis is severe constipation. It may also be caused by a minimal spinal dysraphism. In case of so-called idiopathic constipation, always minimal spinal dysraphism has to be considered; it should be looked for skin anomalies over the sacrum and/or spine, and sacrum defects. Notice in the presented case the sacral defects and the somwhat increased interpeduncular distances at the level of the clips.
