Midline Mass (Thyreoglossal Duct Cyst)

In congenital medial and lateral cysts of the neck the parents often notice a tumor-like mass beyond the first year of life, because by and by the cysts reach an obvious size due to an accumulation of secretions. In this 6.7-year-old girl a distinctly recognizable midline mass is visible. Another important clinical manifestation which may lead to an emergency consultation is an inflammation of such a cyst; $$tuha_1??££see figure for comparison§§.
