Ultrasound (Intussusception)

Ultrasound in a 3-month-old infant with acute abdominal colics and a palpable abdominal mass. In the upper abdomen two rounded structures are visible; on the left side a structure without central echos, on the right side a structure with ubiquitous, irregular echos are recognizable. Cross-section of two intestinal loops; on the left side with thickened wall and air in the center, on the right side a colonic lumen filled with an intussusception = so-called target sign. If the colon is filled with the intussusception and is depicted in a longitudinal direction the ultrasound finding appears like a kidney = so-called pseudokidney sign.
