Umbilical Cord Swelling (Differential Diagnosis as before)
1-day-old boy; between the removed and the distally preliminary ligated umbilical cord and the large navel ring a reddish swelling is visible.
The diagnosis is a small omphalocele with some intestine or liver appendage within the omphalocele sac. If the present pathology isn't recognized, and a removal of the umbilical cord is performed at the level of navel ring, disastrous sequels for the newborn occur.
