The value of the clinical examination for the diagnosis of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in the same population as in $$regu_2??££the alternate figure§§ . The clinical diagnosis has been confirmed in 97% of the patients intraoperatively. A careful history and clinical examination (general and nutrinional state, feeding of the infant with observation of the peristalsis and of projectile vomiting, as well as palpation of the pyloric tumor) permit a correct diagnosis in a high percentage. Yet, these clinical skills must be taught, known and understood.
