Large Form (Omphalocele)

Finding analogous to miss_6_n.jpg in a 1-day-old girl. The umbilical cord has an eccentric insertion on the mass. The content of the mass is not clearly visible due to a white discoloration of the sac. It is a large omphalocele. Its base is very wide with the skin partially covering the sac of the omphalocele (left upper and middle abdomen in the patient). In the lower part obvious intestinal loops are recognizable. In this case the danger of an intrauterine incarceration is less than in a patient with a narrow base. Due to secondary changes the sac of the omphalocele is cloudy and the content of the sac is not as well recognizable as in miss_6_n.jpg.
