Median Facial Cleft (Differential Diagnosis Cleft Lip Palate )

Median facial clefts are clearly distinguishable from a regular cleft lip as in this newborn; there is a deficit of the midline structures, beginning with the absent nasal bridge and septum, up to cerebral malformations (arhinencephalia). Notice the disproportion between broad face and too small forehead (microcephalia and microencephalia).
