Visualization of Bladder Reflux

Voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) in a 3-month-old boy. The bladder is filled with contrast which is evacuated during micturation to a smaller amount by the caudally demonstrated urethra and to a larger part in the upper urinary tract; the right ureter and pelvicocaliceal system is dilated more than the left ureter.:<:br>: The diagnosis is a vesicoureteral reflux (=VUR or reflux) of different degree on both sides due to an insufficiency of the mechanism of closure of the vesicoureteral valve. Reflux may be suspected clinically; its diagnosis is only possible by radiological imaging using contrast or isotopes.
