Types 7 (Renal Trauma)

Catheter angiography in a 10-year-old girl with suspected severe renal trauma. The left renal artery ends abruptly, and the vascular tree and parenchyma of the kidney is not visible. The diagnosis is a grade 5 (V) renal trauma, either due to a thrombotic occlusion of the renal artery following an endothelial damage, or due to an avulsion of the kidney at the hilus.:<:br:>. In the latter case there is an imminent blood volume shock which is also the case in a disintegration of the kidney, and surgery is urgent. In the former case a trial of revascularization of the renal artery often comes too late.
