Closure of the Hymen 1 (Interlabial Mass)

Developing girl with a closure of the hymen. The yellowishly discolored mebrane protrudes on squeezing; therefore, an intralabial mass will be present. The surface is covered with a granular mucous membrane. A catheter was introduced into the bladder prior to examination and surgery. It is an atresia of the hymen which is the most frequent type of gynatresia. It has led to a mucometrocolpos in the girl. The anomaly should be recognized already in the neonatal period by a precautionary examination and treated by excision. It includes the inspection of the introitus and vagina concerning an open hymen and mucus at the posterior commissure, and palpation of the vagina with a probe concerning its normal length.
