Closure of the Hymen 2 (Trauma to the External Genitals)

Figure gebl_12a_n.jpg and gebl_12b_n.jpg: 3.6-year-old girl with closure of the hymen. A probe is visible which was introduced from the left to the right side through pre-existing fine openings. The diagnosis is secondary closure of the hymen following trauma. This finding illustrates the necessity of a close inspection and if indicated of a surgical reconstruction and follow-up of every trauma to the external genitals. The re-opening of the hymen is performed to avoid a mucocolpos and later a hematometrocolpos.
