Gynecomastia vs. Pigment Nevus

Gynecomastia vs. Pigment Nevus

Left picture: In this case the diagnosis is a gynecomastia of the right side. Right picture: Here, a pigmented nevus of the left areola is the correct diagnosis.

In both boys the areola of the right or the left breast is striking in comparison with the contralateral areola, which especially means wider. Right picture: On a close look and on palpation, the broad areola is hyperpigmented, and the mammary gland is not enlarged. Left picture: In this pathology the mammary gland is enlarged, and the areola exhibits only a little more pigmentation than the contralateral areola.
