Combination Type vs. Funnel Chest

The assessment already mentioned is more or less confirmed in both patients in a three-quarter to a lateral view from the right side in the second pictures from the top. Left picture: However, the third picture from the top with a three-quarter view from the left side shows that the pathology is in fact a combined pigeon/funnel chest with an indentation of the right thoracic wall. In other combination types there is a pigeon chest present cranially, and caudally a funnel chest. Right picture: Here, the diagnosis is in fact an asymmetrical deep funnel chest.

Both male teenagers have a chest deformity. Left picture: The boy has a muscular build on a front view and the development of the chest is nearly symmetrical. Right picture: This teenager has a rather asthenic constitution with asymmetrically developed pectoralis muscles. Left picture: The examiner considers the diagnosis of a pigeon chest. Right picture: Here, a deep, asymmetrical funnel chest is assumed.
