Epidermoid Cyst vs. Eosinophilic Granuloma

Left picture: Here, a partially intraosseous parietal epidermoid cyst is present. Right picture: The operative diagnosis is an eosinophilic granuloma, in which the pain on palpation is probably due to a tension of the periosteum.

Operative findings in two visible and palpable parietal soft tissue masses. Left picture: Circular skull defect which has sharp limits, and in which a tense and spherical tumor is lying, extending beyond the bone in the direction of the galea. Right picture: A smooth, irregular and yellow mass without a capsule is recognizable, lying directly under the periosteum and elevating it. The osseous defect is irregular as far as the border and the shape are concerned.
